This artwork date back to 460 B.C., which means the story of Odysseus is older than 460 B.C.

Title: Set of Twelve Zodiac Animals
Date: 8th century
Location: China
Category: Embellished in the animal form
http://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/49381?sortBy=Relevance&when=A.D.+500-1000&where=China&what=Clay&ft=*&offset=0&rpp=100&pos=54
The 12 forms are interesting with different animal head.
I learn this set of animals represents the twelve-year cycle and the twelve hours of the day in the Chinese calendar.
